Department of Laser Systems and Advanced Technologies of the E.O. Paton Educational and Research Institute of Material Science and Welding, National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” provides training for higher education applicants in the field of knowledge 13 Mechanical engineering with a specialty 131 Applied mechanics under the Certificate programs "Laser Technics and Computer-Assisted Advanced Material Processing" (Bachelor) and "Laser equipment and technology" (Master) levels of higher education within the Educational program "Engineering of Welding, Laser and Related Technologies"
Such specialists are extremely necessary for many machine-building enterprises in the country. In each regional center there are several enterprises equipped with state-of-the-art industrial laser technological complexes from world leaders such as TRUMPF, Bystronic, Prima Power, Mitsubishi, Rofin, Spectra Physics, etc.
Since 1984, the department has been training specialists in this branch of mechanical engineering. The main tasks that specialists with higher education in this specialization can perform:
- study of the interaction of laser beams with processed materials;
- creation of new laser equipment for equipping laser technological complexes;
- operation of laser technological equipment;
- carrying out repair and commissioning work;
- design of technological equipment for the introduction of new laser processing operations.
